June is Stroke Month

CorHealth Ontario is proud to mark Stroke Month! While we work diligently year-round to improve the quality of stroke care throughout the province, June brings us the opportunity to reflect on the strides we’ve made together, and the work that still lies ahead.

CorHealth Ontario was created in 2017 by the merger of the Ontario Stroke Network (OSN) and the Cardiac Care Network of Ontario. Through this union, we strive to not only build on the tremendous work of the OSN but to also find new and innovative ways to continually improve stroke care in Ontario.

Critical to our success are the partnerships we have with those outside of our organization. Together with the 11 Regional Stroke Networks and the vast array of interprofessional experts located throughout the province, we work towards one common goal: improving stroke care. We rely on these experts to help identify gaps within the current system and recognize opportunities and priorities towards improvement provincially.

We are grateful to our stroke stakeholders and thank them for their ongoing support. We look forward to continuing to partner with you as we strive towards achieving our vision of the best cardiac, stroke and vascular care for all Ontarians.

2018 Stroke Month Highlights:

  1. 2016/17 Stroke Report Cards and Progress Reports
The report cards and progress reports are created annually to provide you with an evaluation of stroke care and services across Ontario, measured against the national standards set out in the Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations. You can find the cards on the corhealthontario.ca website on June 19.
  2. CorHealth Ontario’s Endovascular Treatment Resource Centre. A novel and lifesaving treatment, Endovascular Treatment (EVT) is a stroke treatment for patients with acute ischemic strokes that removes large stroke-causing clots from the brain and substantially improves the chance for a better outcome.
  3. Stroke resources. The new corhealthontario.ca website boasts a stroke section, which is frequently updated with resources and new hyperlinks about the full continuum of stroke care. Visit us often for an overview of CorHealth Ontario’s priorities.
  4. Join us on Twitter. All month long, we will be sharing stroke facts and information. Join us by asking questions, retweeting or sending us your thoughts! You can join the conversation @CorHealthON.
