Endovascular Thrombectomy Volumes Check-Ins
As part of the Endovascular Thrombectomy (EVT) volume allocation process and to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) on planning for EVT Quality Based Procedures (QBP) funding, CorHealth hosted a series of calls with each of the EVT programs and the MOH in early October to discuss projected volumes.
Based on data from the first two quarters plus anticipated activity for the rest of the fiscal year, hospitals provided early estimates of volumes required for Fiscal Years 2020/21 and 2021/22 along with rationale and details on program-specific circumstances, such as planned expansion or other changes. Input from the calls were rolled up into a recommendation to the MOH on provincial EVT QBP volumes. There will be another opportunity to revisit projections in early 2021, when the MOH in-year reallocations and hospital-specific initial volume allocations will be finalized for Fiscal Years 2020/21 and 2021/22 respectively.
Consistent with the approach to the Quality Performance Measurement & Monitoring (QPMM) cycle for cardiac programs, this inaugural series of calls aims to reinforce engagement with the stroke hyperacute system of care across the province to continue to improve access to EVT services in Ontario.
