Funding Initiative Updates: Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Bundle and Stroke Bundle
CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING (CABG) BUNDLE
Draft CABG bundle recommendations (patient cohort, care pathway and performance indicator) based on the Trillium Health Partners Pilot have been submitted to the Ministry of Health (MOH). Implementation of the CABG bundle by the MOH, originally scheduled for Oct 1st, 2019, will now be shifted to a future date. Several risks and challenges have been communicated regarding the traditional approach to bundle/QBP implementation for the CABG bundle. CorHealth has recommended that the proposed CABG bundle (or other cardiac disease-based funding strategies) be considered only after addressing outdated cardiac service definitions, prices and case-mix adjustment methodologies (Funding Rate Update), work that was completed by CorHealth for the MOH in 2019.
STROKE BUNDLE
Draft Stroke bundle recommendations (patient cohort, care pathway and performance indicators) have been submitted to the Ministry of Health (MOH). Implementation of the Stroke bundle, originally scheduled for October 1st, 2019, will now be shifted to a future date. CorHealth continues to engage with the MOH to finalize all aspects of the Stroke Bundled Care Model.
